Why Join?

Welcome to the Western PreMed Club! We are a student-run organization at Western Washington University committed to providing educational support and volunteer opportunities for the campus community. The purpose of this club is to provide all students a support group where we can share opportunities, provide mentorship, build leadership skills, and overall explore the medical career field as a group.

Through weekly meetings, discussions with illustrious physicians, and speaker panels, pre-medical education at Western is complemented with a keen awareness of current events in healthcare. We also organize MCAT prep courses, mentorship and volunteering programs, and special events, serving as a resource for students seeking a career in medicine. By encouraging the physicians of tomorrow to work together today, the Western PreMed Club does its part to build a spirit of cooperation--a spirit that is becoming ever more necessary in the medical profession.

Volunteering

Conquering pre-med requirements, battling stubborn grade-point averages, and trudging through gruelling seven-hour MCATS: This is the typical life of a pre-med student. But another aspect of their busy lives may be just as important: volunteer work. According to medical schools, it’s essential.

Job Shadowing

Hospital shadowing is a must for aspiring MD's - not just because med school admissions committees won't take an applicant seriously if he or she has never been inside a hospital before, but because hospital experience will help you decide whether you even want to be a doctor and provide you much-needed exposure to hospital life, physicians, and patients.

Key-Note Speakers

Join us as we invite local physicians to inform us about the ever changing medical field. Become inspired their stories of the past. Become informed about current events within the medical field to better prepare for the future.

MCAT

How do I know if I am ready for the MCAT? Where do I take the MCAT? How do I decide when to take the MCAT? Can I Cancel My Scores? My friend took a computer test and said it was strange. Should I be concerned? Get all of your questions answered! Ask people who have taken about what they liked. More importantly, find out what works for you.

Mentoring

One of the goals of Western PreMed is to provide students who are considering careers in health and medicine with career exploration opportunities. We aim to provide students with opportunities that will allow them to provide an honest answer as to why they would like to enter the medical profession. What is it like to work in a hospital or other clinical setting? After getting an MD, then what? What are the possible post-medical school paths that one can consider?

Leadership

Get involved! Western PreMed has room for growth. Become an officer today.

Because WWU PreMed hopes to foster consistent and long-term relationships among its participants, think about being an officer. We sincerely hope that you will decide to join the Premed Club for an experience that promises to be both meaningful and rewarding!
